Amy graduated with her BA Studio Art from Furman University in 2007. Her undergraduate work focused in drawing, painting, and apparel design. Outside of the Art Department, she taught elementary art and assisted a local pageant designer and the Furman Costume professor; developing her sewing abilities and knowledge of teaching, fashion and apparel design and technical theatre.
From 2007-2008, she taught Stage Makeup and Stagecraft while studying Costume Design and Technology at the University of Montana. In 2008, Amy moved to Honolulu, HI to attend the University of Hawai’i at Manoa in pursuit of her MFA in Theatre Design. She worked as a graduate assistant and designer for the Kennedy Theatre Costume Shop, serving as a teaching assistant and lecturer for Costume Design, Stagecraft and Dance Production courses. Some of her coursework included Millinery, Corsetry, Digital Rendering, Japanese Textiles, Performance Theory, and South East Asian Puppetry. Amy designed Costumes, Scenery, Lighting and Props for Western, Asian, Asian Fusion, Dance and Youth Theatre.
Amy received her MFA in Theatre Design from UH Manoa in 2011 and has since worked professionally with the Montana Repertory, Colorado Shakespeare Festival, Honolulu Theatre for Youth, Diamond Head and Kumu Kahua Theatres and Feld Entertainment as a costume designer and technician.
